Jaron Dante Ray, 33, of Hyattsville, was charged with first-degree assault, armed robbery, theft and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, the MCPD announced Monday, March 25.
The charges stem from an armed robbery reported at approximately 1:25 a.m. on Monday, July 10 on Key West Avenue in Rockville.
The victim was approached by a group of armed suspects who announced they were robbing him as he parked his car in the garage of his Rockville apartment complex.
The suspects stabbed and assaulted the man before tying his hands behind his back with zip ties. He was then forced into their vehicle after being forced to give them access to his apartment.
The home invasion ended with the theft of a safe containing an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry.
The victim was taken to an area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Surveillance footage of the incident was released shortly after the investigation was launched.
Investigators obtained an arrest warrant in late February and took Ray into custody in Tuesday, March 12. He is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
